01 / ABOUT

Understanding people.
Supporting change.

I’m Keshav. I bring together coaching, psychological research and a practical interest in what helps people move forward.

I’m interested in the relationship between a person and their context: how we think, what we feel, the environments we navigate and the possibilities we can see for ourselves. That interest connects my work in mental-health support, behavioural science and research.

THE THREAD THROUGH MY WORK

From understanding
to something useful.

Psychology becomes meaningful to me when it helps us see a situation more clearly, ask a better question or find a workable next step. I bring that intention to conversations with individuals and to research in complex environments.

02 / PRACTICE

MAKING CHANGE
POSSIBLE.

My coaching starts with understanding the person in front of me: their experience, their strengths and what matters to them. Together, we explore what is getting in the way and identify steps that feel meaningful and workable.

My experience includes supporting neurodivergent adults and people with learning disabilities, alongside work in community and organisational settings. I’m particularly interested in self-understanding, motivation, emotional regulation and navigating change.

03 / RESEARCH

Questions that matter.
Evidence that informs.

My research interests span prison culture and staff wellbeing, learning, memory and cognitive ageing, connecting psychological processes with the environments we live and work in.

SELECTED PUBLICATION · 2024

What helps prison
officers stay?

How Prison Climate and Culture Shapes Prison Officers’ Role Experiences and Retention

Read the publication

The study draws on interviews with 47 prison officers to explore how organisational culture, management support and development opportunities shape their experiences and decisions to stay.

For me, it brings an important question into focus: how do the conditions around people support, or undermine, the work they want to do?

COLLABORATIVE MANUSCRIPT

Cognition across ageing

Research on inhibitory control, associative memory and the default mode, salience and frontoparietal networks, using repeated assessments from AABC/HCP-A datasets.

Explore the research

The study examines 80 participants across four visits, distinguishing differences between people of different ages from change within the same people over time.

My contribution includes conceptualisation, investigation, data curation, resources and writing. This work is a collaborative manuscript.

MSC DISSERTATION · GLASGOW

Drawing & associative memory

An experimental study of whether drawing helps people learn associations between unrelated words, compared with writing.

Explore the research

The study used a cued-recall task and analysed ten completers. It found better recall in the drawing condition, with the small sample limiting broader conclusions.

The project involved task preparation, participant recruitment, consent, analysis in R and academic writing, supervised by Dr Jamie Murray.

UNDERGRADUATE DISSERTATION

Stoicism & democracy

An earlier exploration of practical philosophy, responsibility and political life, part of a longstanding interest in values and human agency.

Explore the research

Completed at CHRIST in 2020, this dissertation considered the relationship between Stoic philosophy and democratic life. It provides an interdisciplinary foundation for my subsequent interest in psychology and behaviour.

FRICTION

Making the first step feel possible.

I built Friction to help turn a stuck task into a manageable starting point. It explores what is getting in the way, from overwhelm and ambiguity to perfectionism or low energy, and suggests a practical first step.

This side project brings my interest in behaviour change into product design, helping people recognise recurring barriers and find a way to begin.

05 / APPROACH

Curious about the evidence.
Attentive to the person.

I value research that stays connected to lived experience and practice that remains open to evidence. My work combines careful listening, a willingness to question assumptions and a focus on what is useful in the situation at hand.

Relational support

Listening, clarifying and reflecting. Making space for a person’s experience, strengths and priorities.

Behaviour in context

Exploring motivation, habits, social environments and the practical barriers between intention and action.

Research & evaluation

Literature synthesis, experimental enquiry, qualitative research and quantitative analysis.

Facilitation

Creating space for reflection, learning and useful conversations across individuals and groups.

Evidence into practice

Translating psychological ideas into clear explanations, practical recommendations and testable concepts.

Responsible technology

Exploring how digital tools can support people while remaining attentive to context, ethics and limitations.

HOW I WORK

Four principles. One intention.

To make understanding useful.

L

Listen

Begin with the person’s experience and what matters to them.

U

Understand

Consider the habits, relationships and context shaping the situation.

A

Act

Find a manageable step or a question worth exploring.

R

Reflect

Learn from the experience and adapt the approach.

06 / BEYOND THE WORK

Always a student.

Outside my professional work, I’m drawn to philosophy, movement and learning. Martial arts, yoga and running offer different ways to practise attention and persistence. Reading and philosophy give me space to examine the values behind what I do.

Across these interests, I keep returning to questions of awareness, agency and how we choose to live.
